How to prepare your content for a brochure or publication
Organized content helps your designer create a clear hierarchy and keeps the project moving toward a focused, useful publication.

Choose one primary purpose
Start by describing what the publication should help someone understand or do. A recruitment brochure, annual report, and event guide serve different purposes. Identify the audience and the action or information that matters most.
Outline the information before designing pages
Group related content and put it in a sensible order. Mark the main headings, supporting sections, captions, and calls to action. This gives your designer a starting structure while leaving room to improve the visual flow.
Provide editable text
Supply copy in an editable document and identify which version is approved. Avoid burying essential text in screenshots. Keep contact details, names, dates, and web addresses together so they are easier to review.
Organize your images and brand materials
Gather original photographs, logos, brand colors, and any existing guidelines. Label images clearly and connect them to the right captions or sections. Confirm that you have permission to use the materials and note any required credits.
Name the decision-makers
Choose a primary contact and decide who approves content and design. Consolidated feedback helps prevent conflicting changes. Share any required review steps at the beginning so the schedule reflects them.
Discuss the final format early
Tell your designer how the piece will be distributed: printed, emailed, downloaded, or used in several ways. Share the printer’s specifications if you have them. Agree on the final files and leave time to proof the content before production.
